Q. Is carpal tunnel syndrome a lot of hooey?
A.
No. I developed pain in my wrists and forearms about eight years ago. It was while I was a hairdresser and after 14 years of carrying a tray as a waitress. My hands would go numb during a haircut. Doing simple tasks like pouring from a pitcher were severely painful. Wrist supports help but I still get pains if I use my mouse too much and my hands will go numb when I type on the keyboard. I've never been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome but, the pain tells me it ain't a lotta hooey.
Get good equipment and furnishings if you plan to make a living on the computer. Wrist pads, sight-friendly lighting and a nice chair with quality padding and arm supports are a must.
