Scumware is the horrid cousin of Spyware. Spyware is tracking software, which comes attached to free/shareware downloadable programs. The spyware will track your surfing activities and often pop advertising windows relative to your surfing activities. Scumware is more aggressive. It hijacks your browser. It changes your homepage. It superimposes ads over the ads of competitors. Scumware, spyware and adware are from the same incestuous family.
