Q. I can’t stand all this freaking spam and spyware and crap I get each and every time I go on the web! If I were the average surfer I would hate the net and never visit! I have filters on my email and I have spyware checking software I use. The thing is, I’m sick and tired of getting this crap in the first place!

Most people use Microsoft Internet Explorer as their browser software. Most people also use Microsoft Outlook Express as their email client. As a webmaster you want to have Microsoft IE as a browser so you can view how your site will look through it. You probably use Outlook Express as an email client because it comes bundled with IE. Microsoft makes damned popular products and that’s the reason every spammer and spyware goon in the world creates their stuff to work best on Microsoft software.
The best way I’ve found to avoid the effects of auto-installing scumware and spam is by using Mozilla for my browser and Thunderbird as my email client. Both of these programs are from Netscape. There are a few code sluts writing doodads that work on Netscape software but not nearly as many as there are writing for Microsoft.
