A.
No. It’s the law. Namely tax law.
You want to do this according to the law, right? You want a sponsor that will do the same. Well if you want your sponsor to pay you, both they and you have to obey tax laws and that means giving your SS# to your sponsor. If you have a Tax ID number, that works too.
