I don't get out much. I like people but I have met at least a hundred thousand of them in my lifetime and that is not an exaggeration. Now that I work from home, I go out because I want to, not because it's my job. There are very few things that will draw me out into the world of other humans. One of those things is INTERNEXT, Las Vegas.

On Sunday, January 4, 2004, I boarded a plane and flew to Las Vegas, Nevada. When I arrived, I took a shuttle to the Treasure Island Hotel. When I got to my room, I unpacked my stuff and took a nap. I had to. I had to get rested up for the GFY party. After my nap, I got dressed and went downstairs to take advantage of the free buffet dinner I received as part of my room package.
Let me give you guys a clue about hotel reservations. You know those sites like Hotels.com, where they display discount prices on room rates? The fact is if you go to the webpage of the actual hotel where you want to stay, you'll find the same discount rates as you would at Hotels.com. I booked three nights in a deluxe Tower room -with free buffet for two- and I paid a total of 228.00. A lot of INTERNEXT attendees stayed at the Venetian, which was fine. But I prefer Treasure Island. It's quieter, cheaper and the staff is nicer.
After my dinner, I headed over to the Venetian. The limos that would shuttle us to the GFY/Playboycash party were at the Venetian. I didn't have to wait long, when a big-ass stretch pulled up. We all crowded in on the disco ride to the big party. I was lucky enough to sit next to the lovely Zoe_Zoebaboe on my way there. Nice girl.
The GFY party was held at a private club out in the boonies. I found out after I got there that this was a swingers club, complete with dance floor, a pool and the occasional bedroom. It was probably about 11:30 PM when I got there and the place was packed. After fighting my way to the bar, I got my beer and proceeded to socialize. I saw toodamnfli, Sheri Santiago, RocHard, AaronM, Oliver Klosov, JFK, Amputate Your Head, baddog and the host, Lensman. There were others there I recognized but was too shy to talk to.

I noticed Juicylinks swimming in the pool. I spent most of my time looking for Shemp but it turned out he wasn't there. Finally, I ran into my favorite people, Mr. and Mrs. Redshoe. After my second beer, I decided I was ready to go and so were the Shoes. We waited for a while outside for the shuttle and I almost introduced myself to Max Hardcore, but I didn't. After about fifteen minutes of fending off the sales pitches of the paid limo drivers, our disco shuttle arrived.
On the way back I was privileged to meet JT, who is the man behind the GFY BBS. We quizzed him about board gossip and he was very informative. Eventually, me, the Shoes and a friend Hymie got back to the casino floor at Treasure Island. Redshoe found some of his CFF bosses at one of the gaming tables and we all chatted. This gal was hovering around us and apparently found the CFF guys fascinating. She inevitably asked them who they were. One of the fellows gave a reply I've come to love: "We're pornographers, dear".
Then he proceeded to tell her he could make her an Internet star and that's about the time me and the Shoes went off to eat a late breakfast. I love the Shoes. I love hanging out with them. We laughed and gossiped and had a great time. Another of Redshoe's CFF bosses sat down with us and we discussed porn stuff. The CFF guys were really down to earth.
After the eats, I said goodbye to the Shoes. Mrs. Shoe told me she wouldn't be on the show floor this year. She had an appointment for an all-day spa treatment the next day. We parted at the elevators and I went up to my room to rest up for the big show the next day.
Sadly, I was a foolish Titmowse that night. I'd left my camera in my room, so I didn't get to take any pics of my wonderful time with the GFY crowd. Instead, I tucked myself in my comfy king-sized bed and recharged my batteries for day one of INTERNEXT.
