    Step Up Your Game!

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | JAN.01.2009
Internet porn sites can be divided into three categories: free sites, semi-free sites and paysites. Within those three categories lie as many permutations, niches and formats as is imaginable. There's the traditional free sites like TGPs. Link lists and small three gallery sites. Semi-free sites can take on the mantle of online magazines or dating portals, where some of the content is free but the good stuff costs money. As for paysite, well they're paysites. Then come the niches, basically defined by two genres, straight and gay. Within those two subcategories we find unlimited possibility - Amateur, MILF, Hunk, Reality, Toon, BDSM, Fetish and the rest. As for site format, there are Tube sites, blogs, old-school image/video pages, social networking sites, HD sites, Cellphone sites and blah, blah, blah.

And there we discover the dilemma, the blah, blah, blah.

"There is no better time than now to think outside the mainframe. This is the age of the original approach. The time has come for ideas that defy convention and break the rules."
If you're new to this business, you're in for one hell of a swim upstream. You're going to find yourself swept up in a current raging with competitors, all rushing to get to the fertile water. If you make it through the speeding morass, you'll wind up in direct rivalry with the biggest fish of all. In order to get anywhere near the money pool, you're going to have to have superior fins, scales of steel and the gills of the gods. You're going to have to be one very special sea creature.

From time to time, a new adult webmaster will join an adult message board and announce that they have the one idea that is going to revolutionize Internet smut. These poor webmasters then suffer the laughing and pointing of others. They are often shown that their ideas have either been done or are not economically feasible. Very rarely will a newcomer come along and wow the masses with something authentically unique and sellable. It's a disheartening experience and probably accounts for more sameness than this industry cares to admit.

Untitled Page

Sameness is everywhere. Free sites that look like ten thousand other free sites. Paysites that are fashioned from identical cookie-cutters. Even the sales copy is repeated, page after page. Our profession has become so creatively stagnant that we are now borrowing ideas from the mainstream. Social networking porn. Blog porn. Tube porn. We've become complacent and a little dull. It's no wonder that sites like Myspace and YouTube have surpassed the search for porn in search engine popularity. This helps explain why surfers would rather visit established porn sites than venture off in search of nobodies, when those nobodies offer nothing unique.

Then again, our industry-wide ennui could be worked to your advantage if you do it right - if you step up your game.

Forget how the supposed professionals might laugh at you if you announce your wholly fresh idea. In fact don't announce anything at all, at least not until you've gotten it completely worked out and online. There is no better time than now to think outside the mainframe. This is the age of the original approach. The time has come for ideas that defy convention and break the rules. The big boys might try new things but they aren't going to put the heart and sweat into it like a newbie. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Make something that no one has ever seen before. Make as site that blows minds as well as wads. More people are on broadband now so old limitations like Flash animation, complicated scripting and streaming content are no problem. After almost twenty years of web-based smut, history has shown that there is nothing too crazy to attract a following. All that's stopping you is your effort. Go out on a limb. Make that nutty sex site you've been cooking up in your mind. Take that common application and turn it on its head by configuring it into something dirty. Skate on the edges of sanity. Just remember to make it good, make it fascinating and make it make money.

It's your time, noob. Swim past the little fish and attack the big ones right in their boring domains. Be the one that changes everything. Step up your game!
