I love reading adult webmaster message boards. I love writing articles for Cozy Frog and lessons for Cozy Academy. I love to sit in front of my monitor until my ass is numb and my eyes start to cross.

You know what I’ve been doing with my free time lately? Reading books. I’m in a bookish mode right now. For as much as I am devoted to the Interwebs, there’s nothing in the world like the pleasure of reading a physical book. I love the feel of a book in my hands. Books are easier on my eyes than my monitor. I can turn over on my tummy or lay on my back to read a book. I can fall asleep with a book. I like the way I can leaf forward or backward through a book. I like indexes and glossaries. I admire a well-designed Table of Contents. I am fond of page numbers. I think I absorb information and story better by book than by web. There’s something about the printed word that imprints my brain deeper than does text on a screen.
There are a number of books that claim to teach you how to be an adult webmaster. Some are helpful. Others can’t begin to compare with the lessons we serve online at Cozy Academy. In fact, if you printed out the lessons we provide free of charge, you would then have the definitive book for newbie adult webmasters.
However, there are books you can purchase that will teach you basic, general skills that will help you in this industry. These books aren’t written for adult webmasters yet they hold knowledge that every one of us needs to be successful web entrepreneurs. Mind you, the books I shall discuss aren’t the ONLY helpful books but they are some of the most popular.
How the Internet Works

This handy book is in it’s seventh edition and is just the source for the complete Internet novice. Email, FTP, cookies, viruses, URLs, if these words are foreign to you then you should get this book.

Trust us on this, as an adult webmaster you are going to have to learn to read and write HTML code. Use WYSIWYG editors and wizards if you want but that won’t the stop the reality. Instead of reading some boring old stuffy gobbledygook, why not learn this surprisingly easy programming language in a fun way? Learn simple HTML basics or develop advanced stuff like Cascading Style Sheets and XHTML. Train yourself with easy to understand text mixed with a healthy does of amusement.
