One of the reasons I like being an adult webmaster is because I think we’re some of the most tolerant, liberal people on the planet. We take all comers. We have to. We’re a misfit profession. Mainstream society frowns on us or pretends we don’t exist. Some hate us outright. The adult Internet is like the Island of Misfit Toys for geeks. All are welcome.
"Gay porn is not a niche. Gay porn is a market, one of the strongest, most solid markets in adult. People all over the world love Gay porn." |
Yet, for some strange reason, even we broad-minded adult webmasters manage to divide ourselves up into factions and camps. Designers like to hang with designers. In between pissing matches, content providers like to keep in sync with other providers. TGP webmasters consult other TGP webmasters. Female webmasters bond with other female webmasters. Straight male webmasters hold sausage-fests with other straight male webmasters. And Gay webmasters go where the Gay webmasters are.
Mind you, this inclusion/exclusion isn’t the norm as much as it is what it is. Gay webmasters don’t have a clubhouse with a sign that reads: No Straights Allowed! Straight webmasters don’t intentionally alienate gay webmasters. However, the reality is, if you want to sell Gay porn and/or you want to hang out with Gay porn webmasters, you’ll have more luck if you know where to start.
Gay porn is not a niche. Gay porn is a market, one of the strongest, most solid markets in adult. People all over the world love Gay porn. Gay men love it. Straight women love it. Even straight men have been known to love it. Man on man sex is a Greek classic. While repressive types would like to eliminate gayness from the planet, the fact is it can’t be done. Gay is here to stay and Gay sex sells just as well as Straight sex.
The proof of this truth lies in the preponderance of opportunities available to webmasters that want to sell Gay porn. For every Straight affiliate program, webmaster service, content, convention or message board, there is a Gay version. Do you need a Gay AVS sponsor? Done. Would you like to shoot the breeze with other Gay webmasters online? Done. Need Gay content? So done. Do you want to trade links, exchange traffic or barter your skills? Done, done and done.

For example, did you know that at practically every adult webmaster convention there are booths, seminars and parties held just for webmasters that are Gay and/or promote Gay sites? At INTERNEXT 2006 in Vegas, I visited over ten booths where the product was Gay porn. There were at least three parties hosted by Gay sponsor programs.
As for Gay sponsor programs, content and online resources, I can’t even begin to count. Do you want to promote the Gay teen niche? All you have to do is search for the word TWINK. Would you like to sell the Gay alternative to Bikini/Babe content? Type the keyword HUNK. Do you need a recurring payment program? No problem. Want to submit galleries to Gay TGPs and MGPs? Search and Ye shall find.
The thing is, if you want to get ahead either as a Gay webmaster or a webmaster who is Gay, you won’t be disappointed at the number of online communities and possibilities that await you. And like any business, the more you network, the more you’ll succeed.
Would you like to meet other Gay webmasters online? We have a great group at Cozy Campus. In addition there are some killer message boards that cater especially to Gay webmasters. Unity 360, Gay Wide Webmasters and The Gay Board. Join up. Introduce yourself. Join in the discussions.

The adult Internet community is like the real world except better. Whoever you are, you’re not alone. If you’re a straight guy that just happens to sell Gay porn, you’ve got company. If you’re just plain Gay and you want to be with people that understand and accept you for who you are, you’ve come to the right profession!
