No matter who you are, what you know or where you come from, if you are new to this business, there will come a point when you realize that you have a lot of work to do. You have a lot of research and practice ahead of you. There's a learning curve and it begins to turn upward at different points for different webmasters. Until you figure out your own specific formula for making money, it's trial and error and do it all over again.
Sometimes, even after you've perfected your game plan, some outside, unforeseen force comes along and you have to re-learn everything. Your most dependable sponsor might go bankrupt six months from now. That video format have mastered may be obsolete in a year. Your awesome, converting niche will eventually be flooded with competing webmasters. Newbie or pimp, big things don't happen overnight. Success takes work, more work and volumes of patience.
Picking on newbs is so common. As written above, veteran webmasters need some patience too. The thing is, veteran webmasters require a another kind of patience than newbies require. Veterans have already learned that it will take far longer than a month to "get the hang" of this Internet porn thing. Veterans already have the experience of building that first site over and over. Veterans know they won't be paid on the first sale until after the second sale. They know that one site and two sales don't make a career. They know when to stop pumping time and money into an unproductive sponsor. They don't close their eyes at night expecting to see gifts, left by the Internet money elves, in the morning.
Speaking of Internet money elves. Another myth. The average, working adult webmaster earns probably no more than a couple-three thousand dollars a month. Some make more. Many make less. Part of patience is accepting that you will not be Hugh Hefner. You will not be Danni Ashe. The mogul mystique of web porn is a media invention.
Some in our line of work have garnered fortunes but a large portion of those fortunes pay for staffing, promotion, equipment and operating costs. Many more have fallen off the gravy train because they lost their patience once they got their money. It's easy to blow that first, big check on a wild weekend at the bar. It takes patience to save that money and invest it in more content and more server space. What's going to make you a better webmaster: a new sets of rims or saving that money and buckling down?

One can't mention Internet money elves and forget Internet money trolls. They feed on impatience. You've probably seen a few money trolls already. People that promise you the stars for only $29.99. Or the ones that swear all you have to do is push a button and money will rain down on your pointy little head. Do not feed these creatures no matter how much they try to trick you. There are no shortcuts. There are no magic words. If you spend money when you don't know what you're doing, you will lose that money. Even respected porn companies exaggerate the earning potential of their products. Yes, you have to spend money to make money but giving money to a troll is a foolish example of impatience.
When you take your time and figure things out, you learn to spend your money on the right things, at the right times.
Jumping the gun and aiming too high are other ways to lose patience. Many the newbie webmaster announces before the world that heir site is officially open for business. Only, it's not. UNDER CONSTRUCTION are the stupidest, most obnoxious words on the Internet. The second most are COMING SOON. It's good that you're excited about your way cool, super neato blog. Now, do it right and finish building that thing before you make it live.
Incomplete sites do nothing to build confidence and they're not sexy. Aiming too high is another form of losing patience. You're not going to be the next big thing without a lot of testing and failing. Chances are that the next big thing has already been done. Practice the patience it takes to become a master webmaster.
As an end note, try not to confuse patience with paralysis. Don't be afraid to test waters and take chances. Register that domain name, open a small hosting account, buy some content and get your goods out there. Dreaming is just impatience in fantasy form.
The Internet is here to stay. Internet porn isn't going away either. You have time. You have the freedom to work as hard as you want. The more you learn at a steady pace, the better you'll perform in the long run. This is a real industry with real money to be made. Stay focused. Learn all you can and be patient with patience.
