Adult Games - Play With Surfers!

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | APR.12.2004
People like to play games. This is fact and I don’t think I need any fucking statistics to prove it.

The Internet brought to the world a new way of doing almost everything. The web provides new means to communicate through email, instant messaging and webcams. The net has furnished us with new, expanded tools for gathering and disseminating information. E-commerce technology allows us all a new way to buy and sell. Cyberspace has also given us a new place and a new medium for playing games.

"There are hundreds of adult paysites that feature a gaming section for subscribers. Surfers will pay to play games and they'll come back to sites that feature free games."
As an adult webmaster you should consider the drawing/staying powers of online gaming. When I refer to online gaming, I am not speaking of gambling. I mean games. Puzzle games. Whack-a-mole games. Trivia games. Even role-playing games. These are the games I’m talking about. If you want to create an adult site that both attracts and retains, you should definitely think about adding some games to your web.

First, think about the drawing power of a good, online game. Since Electronic Arts put their top-selling game, TheSims Online, they've garnered 80,000 paying members. Both the EverQuest and Star Wars online communities claim paid subscriber numbers in the hundreds of thousands.

You see what I’m getting at. If you’ve spent any amount of time among the adult webmaster community, you’ll find out even those jaded bastards can't resist a good, online game. We play "Smash-the-Pop-Princess" and download desktop strippers just like anybody. There’s nothing sadder than reading a bunch of sappy webmaster posts, reminiscing the long, lost days of Leisure Suit Larry. Games have drawing power on the Internet. Even the adult Internet.

What’s better is that online games have staying power. Games involve the surfer. A game keeps a visitor on your page longer. Your game must be downloaded and then played. That takes a while in Internet time. Yet if the game loads quick and is readily playable, then the surfer doesn’t mind. If your game is cool enough or fun enough, a surfer might stay on your site for a half-hour. That’s a whole half-hour where you have the chance to sell to your customer with clever ad placement and sales copy.

The best part of all is that online games have the power to turn unique visitors into bookmarkers. That kind of game is addictive and/or ongoing. An addictive game is hard to define but you’ll know one when you play it and play it and play it.

An ongoing game has to be fun and has to contain levels of skill or progression. That role-playing pimp game is an example of such a game. Another way to provide an ongoing game audience is through live, interactive gaming where the players get to chat with each other while they play. Online gambling is an obvious example of this. If your game/games are good enough you can even charge money to make them play. There are hundreds of adult paysites that feature a gaming section for subscribers. Surfers will pay to play games and they’ll come back to sites that feature free games.

Non-adult games are okay on a porn site but underage surfers are not. You don’t have to host pornographic games in order to please surfers but you want to make sure that you keep kids off your adult page. TheSims Online has been having some trouble because underage members are playing the game with adults and many parents don’t like it. TheSims Online doesn’t contain pornography but it does have live chat and that’s where things get sketchy.

As an adult webmaster, you should be doubly guarded when you advertise/display the games on your adult page. Make sure surfers are well aware that your game is located on an adult website. Don’t encourage underage gamers.

You can build a game, buy a game or lease a game. You can get one, or two or as many as you can afford. There are Flash games and Java Applet games. There are form-based games as well as live, interactive games. There are games that work only online and there are stand-alone, downloadable games your surfer can keep forever. There are games with pornographic imagery and there are games that are just plain fun to play. Whatever you’re looking for, here are some places you’ll find games for your adult web page:
