A Three Part Look Into Why Content Providers Loose Their Marbles.
Part One - Recruiting Models
So you want to know why your favorite content provider always seems to be a basket case??? Well.as much as I'd like to tell you that it's caused by an overdose of espresso, the truth is that the headaches that face content providers on a relentless basis is mind numbing.

"Be prepared to know the terms "model release" and "contract law" very intimately!" |
One of the biggest challenges facing providers is recruiting new models to photograph for adult-oriented content. It's no surprise that the adult web industry is a gigantic machine that ferociously consumes content. To compete, content providers have to constantly recruit and shoot more (attractive) talent in order to stay alive in the business.
The trouble begins with the all mighty female. Mmm.eye candy for the surfing masses. Must be great scouting out and photographing these hot little tarts, right??? WRONG! It seems that many have the notion that since they're "hot" they deserve big money to show off what momma gave them (or what they paid a crap load of money to a plastic surgeon for). Ok.so now they're sporting 38DD breasts. My answer to that is."So"? If you're trying to recruit "marquee models".expect to run into many greedy, self-centered, and highly egotistical individuals. Not all are like this though.well, 1 out of 100 are actually decent character-wise. Be prepared to deal with every single sort of personality and intellect when it comes to models.
Ok so let's say that you found a few really hot babes that have committed to a shoot. You spend time, money, and effort into preparing for a really awesome shoot in hopes of producing some great content. Expect the opposite. Cancellations, no shows, showing up to the studio smelling like a gin soaked ditch queen.you name it. Expect more disappointments then successes.
Even if you give up on your own recruiting efforts and decide to hire an agency to help, you will still run into these problems.

Next, be prepared to know the terms "model release" and "contract law" very intimately.
The thrilling experience of having a model demand that her images be removed off the net because her new boyfriend doesn't want the world to see his babe spread all over the net, is something that everyone should have the chance to endure. You paid her well. You treated her well. Now she threatens to sue you. What do you do??? Ahhh..contract law.
Model releases cover the content provider to do whatever they want with an image. If they want to cut and past an image of the model into a gang bang picture with circus clowns, farm animals, midgets, and sock puppets.a good model release covers it. Of course, no provider in their right mind would attempt to market an image like that.but you get the point. If you don't understand legalese, consult a lawyer that specializes in contract law. They'll help you make sense of everything so that when faced with a model that's trying to challenge your release, you'll be adequately prepared.
Now when you come across a truly good model, good looks, good personality, etc., make her one of your "mainstay" models. Give her some of your better paying projects.
When you do come across good models, they tend to refer friends to you. In many cases these friends will be good models as well. If you treat them all as a "package", giving them your better projects will help create a tight knit and loyal group for you.
Other models in your catalog will try to break into this group seeing that the jobs are going to key individuals. To them, assignments mean income. When the egomaniacs see you're handing out tons of cash and projects, they'll come around and miraculously warm up to you.
Lastly, be prepared for spurts of recruiting successes vs. failures. Some months you'll have more models than you know what to do with, while other months you'll wonder if they dropped off the face of the earth. Also, remember that models will enter, leave, then re-enter, then leave again their modeling "career". Be patient, be prepared, and most of all.keep recruiting.
