I’ve been writing a series of articles entitled "Niches You Need to Know". This is another one for the series but this one comes with a twist. Actually this piece is more bent than twisted. For all the bytes I’ve devoted to rubber suits, violet wands and chastity belts, I keep thinking that I’ve mostly portrayed a straight perspective

"If you find a niche that interests you, you're in good shape. When you realize that niche can be sold to gay as well as straight surfers, you're in better shape." |
on the whole obscure niche thing.
The reality is that probably every remote sexual kink you can think of is practiced as much in the gay/lesbian culture as it is among heterosexuals. Sexual proclivities are rarely simple and very few of us have just one thing which turns us on. Gay men usually enjoy blowjobs and anal sex but they also dig armpits and feet. Lesbians enjoy a good round of pony play as much as any other lovers of the niche.
People who don inflatable suits in order to receive carnal stimulation don’t have to be straight. Those folks who simply can’t get enough of nude models with red hair come in gay straight and bisexual flavors. One lesbian could love hirsute babe pics while another wants to see shaven beaver. Almost any niche or fetish has followers from every camp.
If you don’t know already, the gay market is damn strong. In the straight adult Internet, the best customers are professional males over age 30. The problem is that so many of these over 30 males have spouses or girlfriends, children and less expendable income than their gay counterparts.
Gay men over thirty statistically have more money to spend on adult entertainment. Gay men like porn as much if not arguably more than straight men. Gay couples usually aren’t as upset if one partner surfs for porn or buys membership to a paysite. Any adult webmaster who deals with gay content can tell you it’s a profitable commodity.

Gay men like teens except the term is TWINK. Gay men like older hairy men who are referred to as BEARS. Foot fetishism isn’t merely the dominion of heterosexuals. Gay men like images of bare, spanked, tickled or soiled feet. They just prefer the feet be male. Legs and asses come on everybody and have the power to make any lifestyler
horny. Boobs are a sexual beacon for straight guys and so are pectorals for the man-lover. Lesbians get lonely and horny and read adult classifieds. Dykes dig veggie play and role-play and bondage play as much as any housewife. Trampling fetishists can’t be categorized as hetero-only.
If you find a niche that interests you, you’re in good shape. When you realize that niche can be sold to gay as well as straight surfers, you’re in better shape.
Instead of searching desperately for new customers with your same old niche, take an alternative route. Try your old niche in a new market. Take your knowledge of female foot loving and apply it to male foot fondlers. If you’ve had success getting people to buy memberships to straight adult personals sites, see how you do with marketing such content to lesbians. If you’re a whiz at selling hetero bondage content, try your hand at homo bondage. You mature masters already have a working knowledge of the appeal of bear images. You story sages can easily sell erotica to those of the opposite persuasion. Pony play, electric stimulation, body modification, balloon fetishism, underwear sniffing fanatics and all the rest. Practically any kink you think of can be turned around to face the other side.
So if you’re at a loss, all played out or just interested in something new, why not try something obvious? Take your niche and make it gay. Make it butch. Make it the same but different.
Search around the content stores and sponsors sites. You’re quite likely to find a gay/lesbian version of the niche you sell as straight. Visit the paysites. Study the lingo. Peruse some newsgroups that cater to your newly intended market. Hang out at some of the resource sites and message boards, which specialize in gay/lesbian webmastery. Get to know your peers who work with gay/lesbian content. Instead of thinking out of the box, why not think out of the closet?
