The first time I realized what was going on was towards the end of 1996.

Just a few, short months later, I was a "regular" in an HTML chatroom. It was there (in that room) when the realization me hit like a bolt of lightning. I examined the list of chatroom posters. I saw I was chatting with people from Spain, Japan, Australia and other points on the map all at once! The whole planet was representing in a single forum! I saw human communications evolve before my eyes and I have been changed forever.
For the first time in recorded history, average humans all over the world can communicate simultaneously. Sometimes, I think this phenomenon is lost on the adult webmaster. Being so jaded and busy with the business of the web, I believe some forget their peer base is the whole planet.
