    Help Hiring the Help!

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | NOV.15.2007
So, you've arrived at that point. The point where necessity exceeds skill. You've got a task or project that you need done but either you don't have the ability to do it yourself or you would just rather pay someone else for the time and labor. You need to hire someone and you're not quite sure how to go about the process. Something as simple as placing an ad in a local newspaper is not so simple for the employer whose business is porn.

"There are many talented, capable prospects that are already members of this industry. Not only do they have the technical skills, they possess the ability to apply them appropriately to the demands of this unique market."
Where does a web pornographer turn when searching to hire full-time, part-time or one-time help? What is the formula? What is the protocol? How can one insure that a potential hire won't freak out when they find out they might be working for an Internet smut monger? How much money will be paid to the winning candidate? Will signed contracts be necessary? Is it possible that there are resources that specialize in hooking up adult-friendly workers and services with those wishing to pay for those skills?

Here's the problem with putting an ad in the local paper, notoriety. It's one thing to be a proud porn slinger in L.A.. It's an entirely different situation for the webmaster that lives in small-to-medium sized town.

When you take out an ad in the Small Town Gazette, you risk the chance of exposing yourself and your business to the scrutiny of lawmakers and law enforcement. While you may be following the law that won't stop the prying eyes and it certainly won't help if your disapproving neighbors find out what you do. Then again, you might choose to print a cryptic ad that doesn't reveal the nature of your profession. That's pretty sneaky and it won't do you much good. Eventually you're going to have to tell your job candidates who you are and how you make your money.

If you place an ad in a local paper, you're going to receive local replies. How many local citizens are you willing to let in on your little secret? Worse yet, there's the possibility that your local newspaper won't print your ad at all. As mentioned, the adult webmaster that lives in a large city is at an advantage when it comes to local advertising when hunting for a new employee.

The other problem with placing ads for job openings locally concerns your local talent pool.

Say you live in a city of 200,000 people. How many of them would you imagine have the ability to perform the job you need done? Say you need a gallery builder/submitter. That's a damned specialized skill, involving dirty, dirty pictures. Or perhaps you are looking to hire a programmer that can write a script to keep foreign spam bots from sucking your bandwidth. Now try to imagine if there is anyone in your town that even knows what a spam bot is or why some bad traffic adds no value to your profits. Odds are that local programmers are degree-bearing, mainstream folk, expecting a much bigger fee than you're willing to pay.

The point trying to come out here is that hunting for employees locally is waste of time for a number of adult webmasters. So many of us live in medium or small towns. If we were in highly-populated locations, we would place ads in alternative weekly publications or the appropriate category in the big daily papers. A major newspaper like the New York Times is sophisticated enough to include an Adult Entertainment category in their classified listings. The Tiny Town Tribune - not so much.

Fie on local talent and local press. Who needs them? You certainly don't.

What you need is a person that knows their stuff and is cool with porn. The best places to find such people are only clicks away. The adult Internet is an organized, working community of professionals. When it comes to specialization, we're on it.

Whatever you desire, be it a designer or affiliate rep, there are many talented, capable prospects that are already members of this industry. Not only do they have the technical skills, they possess the ability to apply them appropriately to the demands of this unique market. They understand the pay scales. The don't require training or re-education. They know about confidentially agreements and following legal regulations. They have websites with portfolios and customer testimonials. They are out there and all you have to do to find them is to visit the right websites:
