The traffic pump is quite a hot topic right now, so I've decided to go into some detail with it. I'd like to explain what it is, how it works, and how you can build your own.

First of all, a traffic pump is just like any other link list or TGP, except for one main difference. It is designed to send all or most of it's traffic to your sites. You can allow submissions from other webmasters if you wish. It will give you a little extra traffic if other webmasters give you reciprocal links. But you should be the judge of whether or not you want to lost traffic to other sites or not. It is perfectly possible to get good traffic to your pump using only your own sites as feeders.
Now, a traffic pump works like this. You set up a link list or TGP featuring a couple of broad niche sponsors, mainstream sites that showcase regular porn stuff. Then you build a ton of different mini-sites or galleries with lots of advertising, consoles, etc. You can do pretty much whatever you want with these sites, because they're going to be listed on your traffic pump and that's all! Then you link all these mini-sites from your pump. Do you see how that works? You can list sites on your own traffic pump that other sites wouldn't touch!
Okay, now to talk about the details in building it. The first thing to do is get a domain. A traffic pump should always have its own domain. Don't worry about the cost of hosting it, because it won't be much. The biggest hog on bandwidth will be your banners because a traffic pump has no pictures!

You will design your site to look like a normal link list or TGP. I prefer to make my traffic pumps TGP's because then you don't have to worry about building warning pages for each site. Just build a gallery, upload it, and link it off your TGP. Then build another one.
Of course, some webmasters prefer to build a link list because it gives them extra ad space for things like full page ads and popups. That's up to you. It's YOUR site, make it what you want!
Now, you'll build at least 50 sites or galleries to list on your TGP or link list. These can all be hosted on a free host if you want, since you know you won't get denied a listing because of the host's ads like many lists will! Of course, you may lose traffic to their ads, but you'll save money in bandwidth! Again, this is a personal choice.
Now, you need to get traffic to your pump. You'll build as many sites or galleries as possible, host them somewhere good, preferably not on a free host, and submit them to as many link lists or TGP's as possible, giving all those link lists or TGP's a recip, and also giving your traffic pump a recip! This way you can build traffic the same way the other lists do! You need to build A LOT of these sites if you want to get good traffic coming in to your traffic pump.
The more you build, the more traffic you'll get. And remember, these sites that are built with the purpose of getting traffic to your traffic pump will also serve to make you sales in the mean time!
After your traffic pump has 50 or more links on it, you can also submit your traffic pump to places like search engines and other link lists. You can submit it under the same category you would any link list or TGP. This will serve to give your traffic pump even more traffic.
Building a traffic pump is a simple way to bring your sites more traffic, and to allow you the freedom of using whatever methods you want to advertise your sponsors. The sites you build for your traffic pump don't have to follow any rules, except those that you set for yourself. This is probably the single biggest benefit of having your own traffic pump!
