    Getting Traffic To Your Paysite

    By Tara S. | Writer @ CozyFrog | JUL.18.2001
There are several common methods of getting traffic to your paysite. The easiest and fastest method is probably to have a partnership program, but that would be a separate article in itself, so I'm going to only go into methods that you can use to drive traffic to your paysite yourself in this article.

The most common way to get traffic to your paysite is through search engines. There are a number of excellent articles and even entire sites on optimizing your site for search engines. Search engine traffic is usually more productive than other types of traffic, so getting a lot of traffic from search engines can be a huge boost in revenue for you.

"There are several common methods of getting traffic to your paysite."
If you can't seem to get the hang of search engines, there are a lot of services out there that will work the engines for you, just be sure to choose one with a strong reputation and excellent references.

Next you can build your own network of free sites, just as you did to advertise your sponsors, but using your own banners instead of sponsors. Build as many as you can, and link them all to your paysite, and I do recommend using a backup sponsor, or perhaps several of them, as some people will still want to join a mega site and gain access to more features than your small paysite can probably provide at first.

You can also build AVS sites to promote your paysite. This can be a very beneficial method, as AVS traffic has already been proven to be willing to use their credit cards to pay for porn, after all, they paid for access to the AVS system in the first place.

Also, AVS traffic usually joins looking for very general porn and are prone to join specialized niches later on whey they develop a fetish of some sort. Build your AVS sites just as you would a free site, with your banners and ads, only build a small tour for your site, sort of like a mini paysite tour. Then put up the AVS script. Easy enough, and great productivity.

There are also link lists out there that list paysites. One of the biggest is Green Guy's Link-O-Rama. He will list your paysite, but you have to link back to him.

Most link sites do require you to link back to them, especially if you are a paysite. It can make your paysite look cluttered and unprofessional to have these reciprocal link buttons on your site, but they can bring in substantial traffic for small sites without partnership programs.

If you're running a partnership program, I don't recommend this method, but for sites without one, this can be great. Green Guy traffic can be very productive for paysites, too, because he tells surfers before they go that the site is a paysite, so they are probably already interested in a possible purchase before they go!

You can also exchange links with other small paysite webmasters. The best way for doing this is either to link to a special links page off your join page for people who decide not to join (you want to give them every opportunity to join YOUR site before sending them off to someone else's) or to exchange links in your exit console.

Exchanging exit console links is my favorite method because the surfers that see your exit console are probably on their way out anyway, without buying, and it won't matter so much if they go to the other sites because they weren't buying anyway. You should put a few link exchanges and a few sponsor links on your exit console, that way you still have a chance at making a sale to them if they decide they like one of your sponsors' sites better than yours.

Thumbnail gallery postings are one other way to get some traffic to your site. You can build a gallery, preferably on a free host, and use your banners and ads just as your would a sponsor. This method is suitable for those who can handle heavy traffic to their paysite, and those that have highly specialized niche sites, as TGP surfers do not tend to buy memberships to generic porn sites as often.

My final method is top list traffic. You can add an exit console or two that opens a top list, or just add links to some top lists to your present exit console. Top list traffic can be very productive, especially if you join a clean list with minimal ads and good rules, and you join one related to your niche. This is a good way to recycle non-buyers for more potential buyers.

There are, of course, many other methods for getting traffic to paysites, but most of them I tend to stay away from. Some people use banner exchanges, or add tons of reciprocal links to their paysites, but I try not to clutter up my tour pages with any more than I have to. I add a maximum of 5 reciprocal links on the tour, preferably all on the first tour page or the warning page. You may find other methods, but this guide should get you started on your way to getting your first members!
