Yeehaw! The sponsor checks are rolling in. You've been at this grind for a good while and finally, it looks like you've figured out your own personal money-generating formula. You are a god. Bow before yourself.

"Will you be blinded into wasteful spending by your first porn sales or will you take the wise path and delegate your money so it will make more?" |
Now. What do you do with that sweet, sweet porn money? Do you spend it all on hookers and blow or do you buy a little ceramic piggy bank and tuck it way for rainy weather? Do you quit your job or cling to it even when the smut cash is spilling out of your over-stuffed pockets? What kind of financial position has your newly acquired wealth put you in?
Naturally the First Thing to do is assess your Profits.
Are they profits at all? Everybody knows what it feels like to make that very first porn sale. The experience is intoxicating and can lead to all sorts of breaks with reality. One sale. Two sales. Three or four. These do not qualify as career building sums.
In that same vein, examine the money you spend to make those 1,2,3 or 4 sales. Did your earned income cover the cost of bandwidth, labor and content? If you made one sale but only after 85,000 site visits, chances are that $25.00-$35.00 may not make up for the price you paid to get it. The word profit means the money left over after operating costs are taken care of.
The Second thing you need to asses is the Regularity of your Sales.
Are you at the point where you can depend on a certain number of signups for each month, week or day? If you're still in a position where your success record is spotty, then you really can't refer to the funds you're getting as profit. You need to buckle down and figure out why you're selling what you're selling and why the other stuff isn't selling. Switch up your design. Try a new sponsor. Get some fresh content. Submit to some new link lists, directories and TGPs. Study other sites, galleries and pages that you know to be successful.

Maybe the secret is faithful site submission. Maybe it's adding better sales copy to your page. Maybe you just need to direct your traffic to better audiences and block unproductive traffic. 45,000 hits from some remote acountry isn't going to make you the big bucks. True profit is predicable and steady. When the money is iffy, it's not really profit.
So, let's say you are past the unsure stage. You know positively that if you build your project, submit it to the right places with the right sponsors and content, you will make x amount of sales. You know for a fact that your x amount of dollars will result in an x amount of profit after your operating costs are paid off. There you are with your x amount of cash just burning a hole in your bank account. What next? Caviar and champagne? Solid gold watches? Stocks stocks stocks?
Well, you have every right to throw your hard-earned dough away on silly fun. We won't stop you. However, we hope that you're not that foolish. Think about the sweat and the tears that went into your earnings. Think about how nice it would be to increase your profits so that this part-time effort could turn into a full-time career. What about next week or next month when the fresh hosting bills come due and you've run out of image sets? Won't you need some of your porn money to restock your virtual shelves and keep your cyber venue running? If you want your adult webmastering to have a future you have to earmark future costs.
If you achieved your prosperity by building small free sites or galleries or whatever, then you're probably going to want to build a whole lot more of them. After a point, your collection of images, domains, layouts, sponsor content, passwords, user names and affiliate information is going to grow so large you're going to require better software, better equipment and better services in order to maintain and/or automate your tasks. Will you have the funds when the times comes or will you have spent it all on pimp cups and pricey vodka?
You're making real green real often. You can afford to leave that crappy say job. You can afford to breathe, live and enjoy life. You've got the golden ticket and you own the whole chocolate factory. Are you going to keep sailing true are will you fall prey to a cosmo lifestyle? Will you be blinded into wasteful spending by your first porn sales or will you take the wise path and delegate your money so it will make more?
What will you do with your money?
