** Continued From: Selling Your Site! - Part #1
In part one of this series we explored the considerations one should make when contemplating selling their adult site. We explained how a well-polished porn site has a worth beyond the price of a domain name.
You were asked to inventory all the elements of a site you might sell and how such a process would reveal the worth of your page. You were shown that some sites are worth more than others are because they have link popularity and a pre-existing audience. You were warned to make sure you own what you sell. You now know whether or not you want to put your page on the market.
In this second part, you will learn how to sell your site.

"If you're trying to unload a site because you're desperate for cash understand that domain selling is a time-intensive process." |
Before we point you to places where you can hawk your adult site, we’d like you to think about escrow. Escrow is where an item of value is transferred through a third party in order to protect the seller and the buyer.
An accredited escrow service acts as a legal mediator between two parties in a transaction. The seller sets certain terms that must be met before their item is sold/transferred. The escrow service insures those terms are met and payment is made before they authorize the seller to deliver to the buyer. Once the item is delivered, the buyer is given a pre-determined inspection period where they can either accept or reject the transaction. Once the transaction is accepted, the escrow service then pays the seller.
We highly recommend you use an accredited escrow service in the process of selling your adult site. Escrow services charge a fee but it’s worth it to protect your interests. In fact there are special escrow services designed just for domain transfers.
Hopefully your adult site is worth a good chunk of change. You want to make sure you get your money and that your buyer is happy. One of the best places to go for escrow services and information is (Escrow.com). They are the same escrow service used by Ebay. Read the FAQ and research their terms of service. If you don’t use them, you’ll at least have a better understanding of how the process works.
There are quite a few ways to actually go about selling your adult domain. One common method is to announce your sale on adult webmaster message boards. Naturally, you’ll want to make sure board administrators allow your announcement before you post.
Advertising your site for sale on the boards is an enlightening experience. Even if you don’t make an exchange, you’ll assuredly find out just how much your page is worth to your peers. Try to look past the crude quips and snide asides to find the real criticism and assessment of your page from your buying market. Other webmasters will review your page and then if you’re lucky enough, you might be able to broker a deal.
Another way to sell your site is through an online auction.

You can use (eBay) or (NaughtyBids) auctions because they are relatively safe places for you.
Both places have domain name categories and will allow you to set your own terms of sale. You can make sure your minimum cost is met and you stand the possible chance you’ll get more than your asking price because of the auction environment. You can set up an escrow service option to protect yourself. You can even pay a small extra fee to place your auction in a featured listing position so it stands out.
You can assess the credibility of potential buyers through the auction site’s user rating system. You can also use more adult-oriented auction sites to sell from. The important thing to remember is the auction listing is only part of the process. You still need to make sure the people you want as buyers (adult webmasters) will find you.
A mix of all three will probably be the way you’ll insure the best price/transaction for your adult domain. Find an escrow service. Find an online auction site you like who also allows adult domain sales. Then advertise your site to other webmasters on message boards. Many message boards have special days or forums just for Spam and sales. If you can’t advertise or Spam, put your domain sale in your signature file. Make sure you include contact information in any announcement you provide. Be open to questions and criticism from your fellow adult webmasters.
Take into account that you probably won’t do well if you’re in a hurry. If you’re trying to unload a site because you’re desperate for cash understand that domain selling is a time-intensive process.
To do it right you have to do so carefully and properly to get the best price. Many people put their sites up for auction and never get one bid. If you don’t market you page effectively or if you don’t set up protections you might end up losing out. You spend hours building that site. You can recall the months of promoting it. Your adult site is more than just a domain name; it’s evidence of your hard work. Sell your site and sell it well.
