Sponsor-based income programs in the adult Internet are constantly changing, competing and looking for ways to get as many webmasters as possible to sell for their interests. Some people out there own just one paysite that they make a decent living from.

"There is no way a single adult Internet company could afford the sales staff it would take to reach the far edges of cyberspace that the online affiliate model can." |
At least I believe some people do. I’ve yet to meet an adult paysite owner who doesn’t have at least three or four or sometimes as many as 20 sites in their network. They all seem to have their own affiliate programs because they know that hundreds, possibly thousands of webmasters working for them is the most powerful sales force as yet conceived.
There is no way a single adult Internet company could afford the sales staff it would take to reach the far edges of cyberspace that the online affiliate model can. If you sometimes think you’re just another referrer number to your sponsor, think again. They are fully aware of the value of their affiliates. These days, payouts to webmasters are amazingly good and one has to wonder how far sponsors will go to please their affiliates.
Hopefully, sponsors won’t go as far as to let the member’s areas of their paysites lose quality in order to pay their affiliate salesmen. Member retention for paysites is not just important to the owner, it’s important to their affiliates. Even if a sponsor doesn’t pay a commission to webmasters for recurring memberships, a lack of member retention bodes ill to the affiliate.
Sponsors and affiliates are both going to have to learn to generate repeat customers because the "gee whiz" factor of the adult Internet is wearing thin. Paysites have to concentrate on pleasing members and retaining productive webmaster affiliate salesmen. They have to prove themselves to affiliates because affiliates have no company loyalty or pension or insurance benefits to keep them tied to a sponsor.
Affiliates are a fickle lot. They’re always looking for the next big wave to ride. They are always willing to try a hot selling sponsor. Why shouldn’t they? They don’t have to make any great investment to give a new program a shot. Especially if their current program has gotten so popular, there’s too many other affiliates promoting it.
Overkill is great for the sponsor until their affiliates catch on and drop off. It’s up to the sponsor to give their webmasters a good product to market along with payment options that are worthwhile and profitable.
Along with higher payouts and multiple program options for their affiliates, sponsors have started rewards programs to treat and pamper those who perform well. Productive affiliates can trade bonus points they've earned in for cool products such as computer equipment, digital cameras and even full size sex dolls.
Other sponsors will monetarily compensate their best webmasters with special extra payouts for sales ratios that reach and exceed stated thresholds. Still other sponsors will bestow large amounts of free content onto the adult webmasters who are their highest money raisers. There are adult sponsors paying out as much as 70% of a membership fee to an affiliated webmaster. Perhaps never before have so many commissioned salesmen and women been able to keep a percentage majority of their generated sales.
On the surface, it sounds almost insane for a sponsor to give out forty, fifty and as much as seventy percent of membership fees to their salespeople. But keep in mind, some of these sponsors have affiliates in the thousands.
Say for instance, you’ve got a paysite that has a membership fee of $50.00. Say also that you’ve got one thousand webmasters working to sell those memberships. On a perfect day, those one thousand webmasters would sell one membership each for your program and you will have generated fifty thousand dollars. You could advertise on all the possible places that one could advertise an adult business, hire a team of the best salesmen in the world and still take a month to generate the kind of sales that one thousand independent webmasters could generate in one day.

When you’re cultivating those kinds of sales, giving away fifty percent of your profits doesn’t hurt so much.

This is a great time to be in the smut business. The barriers that prevented so many from even entertaining the idea of selling sexual content have all but disappeared.
Paysites have learned to take advantage of a networked world and are generously rewarding those who bring the members in. Affiliated adult webmasters are free to choose the programs they want to promote. They are free to work at their own hours, in their own homes and be their own bosses. In the future, payouts may go down or they may go up. Whatever happens, the sponsor/affiliate relationship in the adult Internet is amazingly beneficial to both parties and looks to be here to stay.
