In part one of this two-parter, I showed you some reasons why blogs rule.
I told you about a study that determined the word sex isn’t as popular a keyword as it was 7 years ago. I went on to tell you that the study also stated e-commerce searches have increased 86% over the past seven years. I explained to you that search engines love blogs because they’re constantly updated. Search engines favor blogs because bloggers link to other blogs. The more blogs that link to you, the higher you’ll be indexed on an SE.

In addition, I illustrated how you’ll garner SE traffic because of the posts you add to your blog. Most search engine spiders scan a website for text. Blogs are text-based. Whatever you write on your blog, chances are, search engines will pick it up.
So, now that you know that blogs are SE magnets, it’s time to tell you the second reason why I believe blogs rule.
Blogs rule because they are an almost perfect hub.
Hubs. Feeder pages. Whatever you call it, this kind of site is a proven moneymaker for the adult webmaster.
A hub is a main website. It’s the kind of site that’s both content-heavy and search engine friendly. Advertisements on a hub site are fairly tame. You build a hub to attract surfers. You create a hub that’s interesting and worthy of bookmarking. You give surfers something to look forward to with a hub. A hub is a website that keeps them interested and keeps them coming back for more.
What makes a hub site profitable are the spokes.
Spokes are all those other ad-heavy sites you own. You link to those sites from your hub. Surfers come to your hub for the meat. When they click your spoke links, they get the hard sell. If they don’t click to your spokes on the first visit, they might on the second or the third. As said, the hub keeps them coming back. The spokes are where you make the money.
A blog is a great hub. You can create a blog about any subject you want. If you want to write about computer hardware, you can. If you want to write about politics, you can. If you want to create a porn-review blog, you’re free to do so. Your blog is your own to do with as you please.
As an example, you could create a blog where you write on the subject of interracial sex. Then you would build a bunch of ad-heavy spoke pages filled with interracial sponsor ads. You put links to those spokes on your blog and voila! You have a site that feeds your other pages!

But don’t think it’s all easy pickings. There’s a buttload of blogs out there. There are blogs on every subject imaginable. You can’t just build a blog and forget it like you would do with a normal porn hub. You have to be vigilant with your blog.
First of all, you have to post quality stuff on your blog. You have to write something worth reading. This is not to say you have to be a brilliant author in order to maintain a popular weblog. The important thing is that you write with a purpose. Write about something and mean it.
Second, you have to post a new entry each and every single day. Post two or three entries a day if you can. The more often you add to your blog, the more often search engines will send their robots to your site. Post. Post. Post.
Third, you’ve got to get other bloggers to link to you. A great way to do this is to join a service like BlogRolling.com. Another way to get outside linkage is by participating in the blogger community. That means posting comments on other blogger’s sites. It means signing up with blog webrings. It means referring/linking to other blogs within the text on yours. You want to be as well-known in blogging circles as you would be on an adult webmaster message board.
Lastly, you want to make your blog a community for your readers. This entails adding a comment feature to your blog so surfers may post their thoughts. A great way to enable commenting on your blog without the hassle of uploading a database to your server is by using a commenting service like HaloScan.com. Blogs rule because they’re text-based and contain socially redeeming content. Blogs rule because a clever adult webmaster can turn a blog into a goldmine!
