Have you noticed a decrease in your sign-ups lately? Could that decrease be due to economic trends? Perhaps sales are down because of some yet unnamed cycle that you are not aware of. Maybe religious fanatics finally overcame human biological urges and sex is no longer popular among the populace.

"Naturally, a brand new program will sell and convert well initially. Once that program has saturated the market, the sales fall off for the individual webmaster." |
Maybe that reliable and high profit sponsor (who used to sell and convert like crazy when you signed up with them) is now being hawked by every adult webmaster in cyberspace. Maybe porn surfers have seen your bread and butter sponsor's banner on every site they visit. Maybe it's time to look for something new.
This is not to suggest you should dump the old sponsor. You should never get rid of any program that makes you money. Then again, if your sales are down, you shouldn't have to wait for the day when your sponsor becomes popular again.
When I refer to a new sponsor, I am not referring to another, different sponsor. I am suggesting you do a little research and find a sponsor that has just launched their affiliate program. I am suggesting you find the thing that is underused, just starting out or is a new method of delivering a service to your surfers.
While good affiliate programs are not pyramid schemes, they are similar in their effectiveness. Naturally, a brand new program will sell and convert well initially. Once that program has saturated the market, the sales fall off for the individual webmaster. This is not a flaw with the sponsor. They are probably selling quite well because they have more and more webmasters pushing their goods every day. This is just the way business works. Anything that sells will be overrun with marketers eventually.
How can you keep abreast of new and different ways to make money with your adult website? It's not easy, but it's not impossible. While there's no directory or registry for new programs or services available, there are ways to find out what's new, hot and yet to be discovered.
One of the very best places you can go to find out who is introducing a fresh program. While the general webmaster discussion areas of the boards usually discourage spamming, many allow a special section just to announce recently released affiliate programs.
Trolling webmaster message boards can also give you insight to new trends in marketing and services. Read very carefully the posts of those who discuss the future of their business. Other adult Internet movers and shakers are moving and shaking because they make the effort to look forward into the future of porn. They know that static sites with images work for now, but will seem stale when broadband eventually overtakes the net. They know that soon enough, wireless Internet will mature into delivering exactly the same content on a PDA that you can get on your PC.

These cutting edge folks were the ones who jumped on the dialer bandwagon when it was new just like they jumped on the bandwagon of the early internet. Adult webmaster boards are full of the most cutting-edge idea men and women the Internet has to offer.
Established Affiliate Sponsors
Remember how I instructed you not to dump your sponsors just because your sign-ups are down? I will stress again, never turn your back on anyone that makes you money. I advise you to revisit your sponsor's site because they are some of the very movers and shakers I mentioned in the paragraphs above.
They know that they can't keep delivering the same old stuff. They know that sex on the net is an ever-evolving business. They know where the trends are going and they are going to feature those new programs you so desperately look for.
Visit your sponsor's sites. See what new niches and programs they are launching. You already have an affiliation with them. You already know they pay well and on time. Just because one of their programs isn't making the green you've come accustomed to does not mean they don't have other new ways for you to make more green.
Who's to say you can't think of a new and high profit idea yourself? You're not just a webmaster; you're a surfer. You probably have a pretty good idea of what is lacking in the adult Internet business.
Instead of looking for a new way to sell porn, you could look at ways to sell other services on your site. Think about things like studies that show the majority of porn sites are visited during daytime work hours. Perhaps an affiliation with a job search program would be appropriate. Maybe giving your surfers a help section for Internet privacy (along with a banner from a privacy software reseller) would be an effective sales tool for the office bound.
You might even try to sell to other adult webmasters. As I mentioned earlier in this article, if there is a site that lists a directory of new sponsor programs, I've yet to find it.
Maybe you will be the adventurous adult webmaster who will build that site.
