    Buying Content Today!

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | JUN.02.2009
Adult porn sponsors offer their affiliates heaping gobs of marketing content. Sponsor-provided images, hosted galleries, video clips and RSS feeds are good things but they should never be everything. While sponsor content is a valuable promotional tool, adult webmasters are fighting a constant battle for recognition in a saturated field. Sponsor goodies are oft-repeated amongst affiliate webmasters and it's almost impossible to get listed by directories, top-lists and gallery sites using it. Sponsor content has a purpose but that purpose is limited primarily, to site fillers and feeder pages.

In other words, if you aren't buying content yet, you should be.

I'm kind of tired of explaining that things have changed from eight years ago, when I first began writing for Cozy. I've authored a massive backlog of outdated articles, lessons and tutorials to prove it. When I entered this industry-journalist thing, there was still money to be made without spending a dime. That was then. This is now. Rock on, pervs. Now, I sing a different tune:

"You have to spend money to make money but you don't have to spend that much money."

"Add a hot cardinal rule for the newbie adult webmaster - BUY SOME CONTENT. You don't have to buy a lot but every lot you buy gives you a better opportunity to convert your traffic into profits."
If you want to make real money in this business, you have to pay for a domain and hosting and you have to buy content. I don't want to repeat why paid domain/hosting is an absolute necessity but I will No one will take you seriously if you're on free hosting. Period.

The same must be said about sponsor content. If you submit a gallery made with free pics you snagged from your sponsor, the TGP webmaster is likely to blacklist you on principal. If the TGP is a major one, odds are, your sponsor is already paying for a top gallery spot. The same goes for the top spots on any high-traffic porn portal. If you're striving for traffic from those same portals, you're going to have to build pages and galleries that are unique and enticing. When you do this with paid content, you're allowed the freedom to manipulate your theme, storyline and layout according to your personal choices. You're not bound by the limits inherent in sponsor content. Build your own banners. Pick the photos and video clips you want. Write sales copy with your voice. Create entire hub sites using sweet paid images, clips, games and text. All this is possible with paid content.

How does a newbie webmaster approach purchasing adult content?

Start right here. Look at the upper-left hand side of this page and browse our Frog Listings and Help Guides menus. There you will find links to Content Providers and Content & Niches. The first opens to an index page, listing all adult content providers in assorted categories. The second opens to links to years of helpful articles written by Cozy authors. For further study, click open the link to Cozy Academy. There you will encounter step-by-step lessons on every subject pertaining to porn webmastery, including our Content Annex.

The next step is to browse content sites with a niche in mind. Decide your niche first. If you're selling sponsor memberships with paid content, you'll have to be familiar with your chosen sponsor sites beforehand. You could approach content shopping the opposite way but I think you'll have an easier time selecting a sponsor first. With this method, you'll know ahead of time what your paid content should look like. You want to buy content that resembles the members-only product inside your sponsor's paysite. You can't copy it but you can present a similar illusion to your surfers. The trick is to never ever imply that the paid content on your sites and galleries is the actual member content for your sponsor's site.

On the other hand, especially with free-sites, you don't have to parallel your sponsor's stuff. You could build an adult game-based free site while displaying banners from a variety of sponsor niches. Adult games are content and they're available for purchase/lease just the same as photo sets and video clips. Ultimately, know what you want for your site or gallery before you shop for content.

As for the content providers themselves, welcome to an embarrassment of riches. Harking back to yesteryear, the cost for adult webmaster content is way down from 8 years ago. Mind you, the better, more exclusive merchandise costs more but the average and above-average content is cheaper than ever.

Look for the best prices and don't be afraid to buy from more than one provider. Understand that you're going to need pay by the pic for white-background images that you'll crop and use for logos and banners. Remind yourself that quantity isn't nearly as important as quality. Just the same, try to get the most bang for your buck. A pay feed might cost more but it's probably cheaper than hosting big files and streaming imagery on your own.

Consider the size of your site and whether you're building spoke or a hub. A spoke site or gallery can make it with cheaper, lesser quality content. A hub requires a more select class of porn. Pay attention to trends, formats and technologies. With an adult blog, you can easily incorporate high-end content into a one-pic/clip per entry style. If your site is going to be an online magazine or social-networking portal, you can offer a variety of types of paid content, spread across your pages. search for product you haven't seen. If you're putting together an old-school gallery or mini free-site, stay on top of the newest niches and purchase accordingly.

Add a hot cardinal rule for the newbie adult webmaster - BUY SOME CONTENT. You don't have to buy a lot but every lot you buy gives you a better opportunity to convert your traffic into profits. With paid content, your sites and galleries will stand out. You will gain repeat visitors. TGPs, MGPs, Top Lists, Directories and search engines will favor you. Other adult webmasters will trade traffic with you. When you get paid content, you get paid back!
