If you read part one of this article then you’re aware that I think cartoonists deserve a place among the gods of art as much as any sculptor or painter. I went as far as to proclaim that cartoons were the original art form as illustrated by the cave paintings our pre- historic ancestors drew. I could go even further to state that the earliest written languages were nothing more than cartoon iconography.

I could get all existential about toons but doing so takes all the fun out of it. Toons are about instant gratification. Toons are about fun and delighting the eye. Toons can be deep or they can be silly. Toons can be anything you want them to be. If you’re an adult webmaster then you want your toons to be all about money. If you’ve been paying attention, then you already know. Toons are taking over.

As I explained in the previous piece, the Internet audience for cartoon/anime content lies in the tens of millions. Because the audience is so large, sub-niches exist within the overall cartoon market. The one thing you don’t want to do as a porn webmaster is to confuse non-adult with adult toon content. Stay far away from imagery that is geared towards kids. There’s plenty of adult toon fans to go around. We’re not saying you can’t market G-Rated cartoons, we’re just telling you, don’t cross the streams. Crossing the streams is bad.

The first step in promoting adult toon content is picking a sub-niche from the larger niche. Do you want to open a kitchen-sink toon site that features several categories of animated images or would you rather cater to a more particular fan base? Are you interested in providing toons with storylines or stand-alone images and video? Do you wish to remain with western cartoons or are you considering the far-eastern forms of Anime and Hentai? Do you want to market sexually explicit toons with dark overtones or would you rather stick with light-hearted erotic fare? Picking toon content involves more than Cartoon vs. Anime or Anime vs. Hentai. For example do you want to sell extreme Hentai like tentacle porn or will you go with the more cheerful Ecchi porn?

Whatever type of cartoon content you choose, make sure you understand the needs of your target market. Some cartoon porn is violent and the scenarios portrayed would have their creators in jail if real persons were the models. Whichever route you take, research the fans. Visit their message boards and online communities. Learn the lingo and buzzwords. Go lurking over at 4chan.org. Google searches and online encyclopedias like Wikipedia are excellent resources for such fieldwork. There’s a smorgasbord of cartoon and animated content that appeals to adults.

On the other hand, some cartoon porn is plain bad or lame or not sexy or stolen. Whatever the future brings, be it portable holograms or subcutaneous chips, there will be cartoons and animated content for those imminent technologies.

If you want to catch a wave, aim for the one that’s line-drawn and shaded. Instead of marketing regular old human porn with its pesky contracts, model fees and legal issues, go instead for adult cartoon and anime. No model fees, no IDs and no STDs.
