** Continued From: Internet Porn in 2010! - Part #1
In part one of this two-part article, I got all mystic about the future of Internet porn in the year 2010. I threw the I-Ching and got two Hexagrams WIU WANG AND LIH.
In this second part, I’m gonna do my own predicting so I can finally get my cookie. Here goes:
2010 is only four years away but if the last ten years are any indication, a lot can happen in four years. It’s possible that in four years, we might not even recognize our industry.

"We weren't the ones that built the boat. We weren't the ones that captained the ship. We were the sailors smart enough to take the first journey." |
Technology is evolving at lightning speed and we are the beta testers of that technology. From new business models to new billing options, it will be the adult webmasters that work out the kinks and lead the way. Our recent past foretells our recent future. We perfected the online payment/subscription model. We were the first to make the affiliate/sponsor model a reality. We were streaming video content over
the net when mainstream webmasters were still going gaga over Java Applets. We were delivering content through wireless devices before anyone ever heard of the IPod. Like the I-Ching told us in part one of this article: We weren’t the ones that built the boat. We weren’t the ones that captained the ship. We were the sailors smart enough to take the first journey.
Knowing this, how will the seas of the future fare for us? As with any future, it all depends on the things that happen along the way. Things could be good. Things could be bad. My guess is, a little of both.
The wise adult webmaster does his/her very best to operate according to the rules of society. Unfortunately, society is on a rather puritan course as far as legislators go. Like the Spanish Inquisition, nobody
expected the explosion of the Internet and Internet porn. While I’m all for freedom of speech, we’ve been getting away with a lot of behavior that would simply not be tolerated in the material world.
Lawmakers couldn’t catch us because they didn’t understand the technology. All of us have been playing Wild West games for the last ten years but high noon is coming. Attempts to reign us in will eventually succeed. We could have a future with mandatory labeling, forced .xxx domains and subscription-only sites. Some countries will make Internet porn completely illegal, driving some adult webmasters into the world of organized crime. Many of us will find the future too hard to take and will quit the business altogether.
In addition, if Net Neutrality fails, the little guy will be out of the picture. Telcos will demand fees to deliver content over their networks, leaving only those with deep pockets. In fact, Net Neutrality
or not, say goodbye to the individual adult webmaster. Say goodbye to the free site and the TGP. Say farewell to small investment equaling riches. The future belongs to the wealthy. The only way you’ll be able to make a living in Internet porn will be as an employee.
Broadband. Streaming content. Cell-phone porn and SMS billing. Flash Animation. These are the formats and delivery systems of 2010. Web pages will move and content will stream just like television. More and more people will turn off their TV sets in favor of their web-connected computers. Specifically, our televisions with become integrated with our computers and our Internet connections. Naturally, our chips will be faster and our pipes with be able to deliver more bits per second than ever before. Prices will go up and we’ll probably see the return of start-up fees for registering domains and hosting websites. Look for Networks and Telcos to get into the Operating System/Server platform software business. Oh, and bank on the probability that software will be download-only.
As for porn, realistic interactivity will prevail. Imagine being able to slip a wireless sleeve over your cock that pulsates in time with that cute model pretending to suck it - on your monitor. Count on
better sex toys and love dolls so real, some folks will give up human-to-human sex altogether. 3D cyber environments will work in conjunction with headsets and perhaps, full body suits wired to
caress you in all the good spots. Add in massive participation in online communities covering every interest from gaming to music. And Avatars Will Have Sex!
VISA will keep raising fees. Microsoft won’t dominate the market anymore. Surfers will still be typing on keyboards, because they like it. Instant Messaging will offer more features but it
won’t be free anymore. E-Mail will still be a favored Application. SPAM will never go away. Spyware will still be a scourge. Privacy will be a joke.
Well, there you have it. Titmowse does Internet porn in the year 2010. I’ve given you the prediction of an ancient oracle and the predictions I foresaw in my imagination. Remember though, no matter what, right now you still have a chance to make a living selling porn as an individual. Whatever happens four years from now, the choices you make today are still your choices. Grab your chance while you still can.
