    A Blogger’s Toolbox!
    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | JUN.27.2007

Search engines love blogs. Adult webmasters love search engines. Therefore, adult webmasters love blogs. Or at least, adult webmasters should love blogs because, well, you get the point.

They promised us that with the World Wide Web, individuals would be able to access the planet. More importantly, the planet would have access to individuals. The web has been a boon for the little guy almost since the beginning. Consider the parade of Internet millionaire stories we’ve read or seen over the years. Look at the success of sites like Amazon, Ebay, YouTube and MySpace, all of them started by individuals. Take a look at all the adult webmasters that now make a living from a profession that didn’t exist 20 years ago. Blog software allows a person to self-publish and self-promote with more ease than ever before.

"Adult webmasters are blogging along and perfecting the art as they go. We've had to adapt to pre-existing ground rules set up by others because for once, our profession came late to the party."
Blog software takes all the individual elements of web site management and bundles them in one powerful program. With blog software, one can write a post, archive automatically as well as generate an XML page that will notify RSS aggregators when the blog has been updated. Bloggers have their own directories, search engines, webrings and link trades. There are blog hosts, blog template providers, blog resource sites and blog tutorials. There are blogs that rate other blogs and there are blogs that give awards to bloggers. Surfers visit blogs for a myriad of reasons. Some love technology blogs. Millions are fans of political blogs. Hollywood gossip blogs are all the rage. And of course, there are untold numbers of horny surfers, looking for porn on blogs.

If you haven’t created a blog, there’s no time like the present. In fact, if you have the right tools, you can get an adult blog up and running in a day. All you need to know is where to go and what to get. Often times, blog tools are free or at least affordable for the poorest webmaster. You don’t need to be a design guru or a coding genius. When it comes to blogs, they don’t call it "push-button publishing" for nothing.

    Blog Software

Whether you choose Word Press, Moveable Type or Google’s online software, Blogger, the programs are out there, waiting for you. With software like Word Press or Moveable Type, you’re going to need to understand how to install a database on your hosting server. You also need to make sure that your hosting account is compliant with the software. These programs come with restrictions for commercial use so you want to make sure your blog follows the rules. As mentioned, there are online versions of blog software like Blogger but many of them forbid porn content. Look for online blog software providers that are adult friendly.

    Blog Templates

If you’re a less than talented designer, then blogging is definitely for you. You don’t have to worry about tables or CSS or laying out your page because most blog software comes with pre-made templates that look professional and clean. If you want a different look there are hundreds of sources where you can either buy pre-made blog templates or get free templates from folks that only ask for a reciprocal link in trade.

    Blog Commenting

One of the best features of a blog is the ability for users to comment on your posts. If you have blog software like Word Press, commenting is an option you can either enable or disable. If you use other blog software that doesn’t have the commenting feature, you can use commenting services like Haloscan. They host your comments while you reap the benefits of live surfer response.

Blog RSS buttons, Tags, Blogrolls & Webrings

If you’re going to enter the world of blogging, you’ll get more traffic if you share the love. Make adding your blog to your surfer’s newsreader software by adding an RSS feed button to your page. Yahoo, Atom, Feedburner, Blogs in Space, all of these companies provide newsreader software to surfers. When a surfer with Yahoo newsreader sees the Yahoo RSS button on your blog, they can click it and automatically add you to software that notifies them when your blog has a new post. Fans of Tag sites like Technorati will encounter your posts if you link chosen keywords to Technorati. Bloggers trade traffic by posting blogrolls. Blogrolls are link lists of other blogs that you post in your side bar. If you want, you can use a blogroll service like Blogrolling to manage and rotate your list easily. Bloggers have webrings and cliques as well as community blogs, where more than one person can make posts. Merely linking to another blog within one of your own posts can garner you attention and traffic. The tools to gain traffic and attention to your blog are numerous.

    Blog Tutorials and Tips

Blogs are so prevalent there are blogs devoted to learning how to blog. There are also loads of tutorials on how to use blog software and blog templates. You can learn about RSS and how it works. There are sites where you can "ping" your feed out to the masses. There are sites that cover blog trends, blog mistakes and blog culture.

Adult webmasters are blogging along and perfecting the art as they go. We’ve had to adapt to pre-existing ground rules set up by others because for once, our profession came late to the party. Just the same, you can catch up quickly if you have the right tools.

I’m only going to provide one link but it’s a hell of a link. It’s the DMOZ dashboard page for weblogs. On it you will find links to every tool you need as a new blogger. Open it. Bookmark it. Name it your Bloggers Toolbox!
