No. I don't mean adults, rutting like animals in evil porn movies. I'm talking about financial ruts. Creative ruts. Sponsor ruts. Niche ruts. If you've come to a stop in the road because of a seemingly impassible hole in the ground, for god's sake, don't let yourself fall in.

You got to find another path. If the path does not exist then you have to make it. If you're not going forward, you might as well be going backward.
Sorry. I got carried away with the analogies. Let me say this straight: If you're not making money or your income has hit a plateau, it's time to re-assess your methods. It's time to try new sponsors, new niches and new methods of making money.
I'm not asking you to stop doing whatever is working for you. If you're making money, by all means, keep doing what you're doing. If you're satisfied with your personal status quo, this article isn't for you. Then again, before you back out of reading this piece, I must warn you nothing lasts forever. Changes will come. Sponsors will fail. Niches will become over saturated. New technologies will take hold and force the death of old technologies. Enjoy your success but coasting is never a good idea. This business is in a constant state of evolution. You've got to adapt.
As for you who are not satisfied, not making the green, the day has come for you to take inventory of your endeavors.
If your sponsors aren't selling, find new sponsors. If your niche isn't garnering traffic, find a new niche. If your site isn't getting traffic, find new ways to get the hits. If your surfers aren't returning, look at your site with a critical eye and figure out why.
Here's an example:
Your site or your galleries are getting tons of hits but you're not converting those hits into sales. Are your surfers clicking your sponsor banners and links? If they're not, then you probably need to reassess your layout.

It's important to make sure that sponsor ads are always within eye range of your visitors. It's important that you write sales text that makes the surfer want to click your links. You've got to give your customers enough porn to get them excited but not so much that they shoot their load and leave. You have to make your sponsor's stuff look better than your stuff. If your visitors are clicking your sponsor links but not buying, then your sponsor's tour/sign-up pages might be the problem. There are lots of sponsors who have great sites but give their affiliates lousy marketing tools. Consider making your own sponsor banners and writing your own text links. If your sponsor doesn't allow this, then maybe you need to go sponsor shopping.
Another example, your niche. Is it over saturated? Are there a few thousand other webmasters promoting the same stuff? If a niche is popular, then it's good as guaranteed you're competing with a whole lot of talented webmasters for traffic. On another note, how well do you know your niche? Are you selling a kind of porn you don't understand or like? Are you selling a site you don't believe in? You got to sell what you know and what you stand by. If you're promoting gay porn and you you don't like gays, get the fuck out of that market. If you think that BBW models are funny and awful, you might have limited success selling to point-and-laughers but the loyal customers are the ones that love Big Beautiful Women. When you disrespect your content, you're disrespecting the surfers who want to see that content.
Here's the thing. If your mojo isn't working then you need new mojo. You need to take a realistic look at what you're doing. Persistence pays off but there comes a point where even persistence can't save you.
Reassess your site, your content, your sponsors, your everything. If you're in a rut, it is a rut of your own making. There is always another way. There is always a new path. There is always a new technology or site format on the horizon. If you can't find something new, then invent something new.
