    Lesson #10

    Choosing The Right Sponsor

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | Updated: APR.14.2008
If you’ve built a free adult site because of some need to see your name on the web, the camaraderie of your adult online peers or just to share with the rest of the Internet your favorite hobby, then you should skip this lesson. This lesson concentrates on the reason most adult webmasters build and maintain a free site. Adult webmasters build free sites in order to promote sponsors or their own paysites. Adult webmasters build free sites to MAKE MONEY.

If you have your own paysite or software program to promote, you will probably design a free site as a way to feed traffic to your paid services. If you have a site or service you own that you have the rights to sell, a free site is a great way to accumulate the Internet version of window shoppers.

Of course, if you have your own stuff to sell, you’ll also need your own hosting, scripts, graphics, merchant account or association with a third party processor. Promoting and making money from your own paysite is a rewarding venture for those willing to do the extra work and spend the dollars for costs. Great deals of adult webmasters choose the easier method of selling other company’s products and services. One tried and true technique for selling sponsors on the adult web is with the free site.

The free site owner chooses a sponsor who fits the theme of their web. If one has a free site that stars bikini models in teasing galleries, the free site owner finds a sponsor who has more bikini babes with video and chat and voyeur cams. If the free site is dedicated to the love of high heels then the builder looks for a foot fetish sponsor or ventures a small ways off-theme to incorporate sponsors who sell hosiery, trampling and leg memberships. You may love the reputation and payout system of BoobyCash but it won’t sell on your free gay top list.

If you set up your free adult site so it teases, then offering your customers harder porn through your sponsors is a formula that is tried, tested and strong.

If you are giving away a little more smut than the average teaser site, you might consider selling sponsors who provide non-adult services or software. For instance, the average TGP is a free adult site. TGPs give away a ton of free porn through the submitted galleries they list. You’ll find many of them marketing privacy protection software, online gambling casinos and even penis enlargement programs. Non-adult or non-porn paysite sponsors convert better when your ratio of content -especially hardcore content- is high.

Smart free site builders limit their sponsor banner/text space on their sites to two or three productive programs. Through trial and error, they determine which sponsor’s program converts for them and concentrate on building their site to spotlight those sponsors. They might mix one who pays per click-thru with another who pays on recurring memberships. They might find one sponsor with two or three different (but fitting) paysites who converts so well they ultimately push just that one sponsor.

As always read your desired sponsor’s terms of service thoroughly before you join their program. Look to see if they accept sales generated from free sites. If your free site is on a free adult host, make sure your sponsor is okay with that. Find out if your sponsor utilizes any shady tricks like popping consoles on your unsuspecting surfers. See if you like their banners and text links and full-page ads. If you don’t, see if you can create your own. Find out if that non-adult sponsor really accepts sign ups originating from porn sites. If you use a sponsor and do your best to promote it and it won’t convert to sales for you, drop that sponsor and find another. Examine the traffic and sales statistics of the sponsors who are making you money and try to improve upon whatever’s working.

As a free site builder, you have incredible freedom to build your site your way and still make money. If you choose to use sponsors to make your income, make sure they fit the needs of your particular free adult site.
