    Lesson #16

Making Older Sites Work for You

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | Updated: APR.14.2008
Until there’s a new way to find what one is looking for in cyberspace, search engines will always be vital to the success of any site. A free adult site is no exception to this fact. With millions of web pages already in existence search engines continue to be the prime way surfers locate the cyber spots that entertain their collective fancies. The future promises more and more new web sites. Adult webmasters will probably be responsible for a marked percentage of those new sites.

No matter how much talent and effort you put into a new site, don’t forget your old pages. Don’t forget that once you have a site well placed on a search engine, it can serve you for years to come.

As established in the previous lesson, adult webmasters make multiple sites as a matter of regular business practice. The adult web is a numbers game and the more sites and pages one has, the more likely they will reap financial returns. This lesson explains one of the main reasons old sites should not be forgotten and your current sites need more than just design attention:

    Search Engines and Directories

Untitled Page

Search engines and directories are the foremost portals through which Internet surfers enter websites. Whether they visit Yahoo or type keywords in their AOL homepage search box, cybertravelers hit some kind of search algorithm every waking second of every single day.

Getting listed in these web-based phone books is tedious and complicated. Getting a good listing for your category is an art. Unlike real phone books, search engines and directories don’t have to list every single business in alphabetical order. In fact, some search engines have the audacity to demand non-refundable fees to simply review (not necessarily list) a website. The search engine game is often one-sided and any foothold you have in it is a treasure.

Say you have a great new idea for a free adult site. You get all your content and design elements together with sponsors and hosting and you put your new free page out on the net. At this point, an adult webmaster would begin to market their free adult page. They would trade links, submit to top lists and build gallery pages for TGP traffic. Submitting to the search engines is part of this process but it’s a step that has delayed benefits. Getting listed on a search engine or directory takes a long time. A search engine listing doesn’t happen within days like a TGP gallery listing does. Search engine hits are never as prolific as the ones coming from a good placement on a popular adult top list. Just the same, in the long run, that search engine listing will bring you a better more desirable surfer.

If you have a new site to promote, submit it to the engines but also examine what your older pages can do for you because of their pre-existing SE listings.

As long as you continue to update old free sites on occasion, they might maintain search engine placement you would never achieve with a new site without paying to be listed. If people are finding your old pages through search engines then you can direct them to your newer page from old pages. Not only will you gain control of valuable traffic but you’ll be updating your old free sites in the process, thus insuring their continued good SE placement.

There are sundry ways to market a free adult site. Applying the value of older pages and their search engine positions to your new ventures should be as common a practice as making multitudinous free adult sites. All your work is viable and it can all be interlocking cogs that only make you a stronger adult Internet force.
