    Lesson #14

    TGP Traffic Quality

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | Updated: APR.15.2008
Adult webmasters are plainspoken folk. When they see bullshit, they call it. If you’ve been reading any adult webmaster message boards you’ve probably seen this comment at least once:

    TGP Traffic is Shit Traffic.

As you know, traffic is defined as the amount of hits or visits you receive on your page. Everybody wants traffic and lots of it. Selling porn is a numbers game. The more visits you get, the better your chances to sell. However, just because you get 20,000 hits to a gallery, that doesn’t mean you’re going to get 20,000 signups.

Untitled Page

In these days of high competition, you’re lucky if you get one signup from that 20,000. Imagine that on one day, your gallery gets 20,000 visits. If your gallery is a combined size of 1 Megabyte (page, graphics, plus full size images) and each of your 20,000 visitors view the whole gallery, they will eat up 20,000 megabytes of transfer. That comes to a total of 20 gigabytes of transfer. If you’re on an account with a limit of 20 Gigs of transfer per month, you’ve shot your whole wad in one day. Take into account the odds of generating even one signup from that 20,000 and you come to the realization that TGP traffic does kinda suck.

    Why Is That?

Why is it so hard to convert the massive amounts of traffic a gallery receives from a listing on a TGP? The answer is quality.

TGP surfers visit TGPs because they know that’s where the free porn is. TGP traffic is a lot of traffic but it’s not quality traffic. Some webmasters refer to TGP surfers as "freeloaders".

TGP surfers are savvy. That’s why they hit the TGPs in the first place. TGP surfers don’t want to pay for porn. They want their smut without popups, without hassle and without charge. Most TGP surfers go to your gallery, view all the pics and then click their back button and return to the TGP.

This makes for the most difficult sales venue in of all adult webmasterdom.

Don’t be discouraged. Just be realistic. There are thousands of adult webmasters, who make a good living by creating and submitting galleries. They do so by submitting new stuff everyday to as many TGPs as they can. They do so by creating galleries that are so outstanding, even the most jaded of surfers cannot resist. They make a living in spite of the odds against them.

Gallery building is more than a process, it’s an art. The formula is simple but the application is not.
