    Lesson #25

    Need Hardware? - Part #2

    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | Updated: APR.15.2008
The configuration of your hardware means nothing. The quality of your page is what counts. So what if you've got dial-up connection, a tiny monitor, almost no RAM and a Pentium II. As long as you pay for a decent host, buy decent content and make a site with a decent design, you're as far ahead of the game as any other beginning adult webmaster.

So, when other adult webmasters puff up and brag about their pricey new high-tech toys, don't be jealous, don't feel sad. Be proud. You'll get there. The toys will come. But first, spend the money on the stuff that matters.

If you really really need new hardware but you're not yet a millionaire, there are several great places on the web where you can buy new or used computer equipment at bargain-basement prices. Some of them are:

Untitled Page

    PriceWatch
    (http://www.pricewatch.com)
This value search engine locates your desired product and shows you the best/lowest prices first. Either click on the category links listed on the front page or type a specific product into their search box. PriceWatch will give you results from all the different stores carried in their database. There are some great deals on all kinds of hardware here.

    Laptops Online
    (http://www.laptopsonline.com)
While the price of the desktop machine continues to fall, the price of the notebook computer stays high. As well, there's very little depreciation on used notebooks. In today's market, portability has a higher value. That's why this site is such a find. They carry used/refurbished laptops at unheard of low prices. Mind you, the machines are sold without an operating system. But at these prices and OS software, you're still going to save hundreds of dollars.

    Ebay/Yahoo Auctions
    (http://www.ebay.com) & (http://www.auctions.yahoo.com)
The best feature of Internet auctions is their ratings systems for buyers and sellers. When you shop for hardware on these sites you'll be able to find out if the seller has a good rating. Read the feedback pages for any seller and then you'll be able to tell if your purchase is worthy.

Also make sure to read the complete description for any product you want to buy. Look for missing components or indications about damaged goods. If you shop carefully, you're sure to be pleased with your acquisition.
