This is a hard business even for veterans. You are expected to develop a whole, new skill set for which there are no college courses. You are going to have to work diligently for weeks and probably months before you ever see a dime of profit. At the same time, you will have to compete with thousands and thousands of other adult webmasters for that almighty porn dollar.
What makes it all more difficult is the fact that a lot of your new peers don't seem to care what you're going through. In truth, many of them are going to treat your rather coldly. Some will be downright mean.
The Cozy mission is to make your time in this industry as friendly and easy as possible. Just the same, we can't shelter you completely. That task is impossible. We can give you an environment where you are treated fairly and with respect. We can teach you how to make websites and market them. We can explain niches and billing options. We can lead you to the sites and tools that will help you become a successful adult webmaster. Nevertheless, when it comes to your emotional maturity, you're on your own.
We're not calling you immature. We're not trying to insinuate that all newbie adult webmasters are young pups, fresh out of high school. We are fully aware that many of you have held down real-world jobs and dealt with real-world problems. A lot of you worked in professions that were filled with petty rules, petty hierarchies and petty people. We realize that some of you chose this business because you were tired of taking crap from tyrant bosses and backstabbing co-workers.

We aren't trying to insult you. We're trying to warn you:
IF YOU WANT TO BE AN ADULT WEBMASTER...
YOU NEED THICK SKIN.
For example, take the website critique.
You work like a dog. You build the site. You make sure to fill it with carefully considered content and ads. You upload the whole thing. You've made an admirable effort and you should be proud.
You post your new site in our Critics Forum on Cozy Campus and you wait for the glowing reviews. Only, the reviews aren't glowing. The members tell you your site won't sell. Your design is confusing. Your content doesn't jive with your sponsor ads. Your site colors are irritating. Your logo is too big. And well, you get the picture. All that hard work and all that effort and you're told nope, wrong, start over.
It hurts. We know. We've been there. Would you rather we lie and tell you your site is fabulous? How Cozy is that?
As we told you, our mission is to give you a place where you can learn without humiliation. However, someday you will have to venture outside our little cocoon. You're going to have to deal with other webmasters, content providers, billers, and designers. They're all hiding behind the safety of monitors and there are keyboard bullies aplenty. Some will call you names. Some will shun you. Some will laugh at your ideas. Some will simply ignore you.
Here's a bit of Cozy advice:
Before you click the submit button on that rant you typed because someone told you your tranny site is lame, take a breath and count to a thousand. Now, ask yourself: is it worth it? Will lashing out at some stranger make you a better webmaster?
When a grain of sand gets inside an oyster's shell, the creature turns it into a pearl. Be like the oyster. Take all those little, irritating remarks and make something beautiful.
