    Google AdWords Explained

    By Cyndalie | Writer @ CozyFrog | Updated: APR.17.2008
We've all heard the expression "It takes money to make money" but how much money is that? What exactly do you need, what does it take to get the ball rolling? For many adult webmasters jumping into the advertising arena may feel like sinking into a money pit.

There are limited adult-friendly mainstream advertising choices left for adult webmasters. Perhaps it doesn't take as much money as you think to see a small enough return to set the ball rolling. Perhaps the money pit isn't quite as deep as you thought. And who has more traffic than Google? Come on, let's talk a walk through Google AdWords so you can try for yourself.

Did You Know. Here are a series of little known or popular facts about Google AdWords, as well as tips to help you maximize your campaign. Since AdWords is pay per click driven, there is much to learn and analyze from the results and how to better maximize your own search engine optimization campaigns that can drive you traffic for free. There is an advantage to learn from both sides, but the bottom line is your ROI - you return on investment.

Did You Know. if you are having trouble getting listed in Google try running a Google AdWords campaign for at least a week? There is a well known yet hush-hush consensus that this will never hurt and has been suspected to speed things up just a bit. It's also possible that you could even help boost your own keyword relevance if you have optimized for keywords in your AdWords campaign. Shhh.

Did You Know. that to appear in the top Sponsored Links in Google (the first 2 shaded before results listings, as opposed to those appearing on the right) you must spend $5,000 or more per MONTH as a Google AdWords customer.

Did You Know. how much you spend per day determines how frequently your ads appear, and that the position is determined by your ad's actual click through rate (the higher, well, the higher) AND your maximum cost per click budget. This means that the higher your cost per click and your click through rate, and the more you select to spend everyday, the more results you will get! And the more you will spend of course. At least you don't pay per impression! Wow!

Did You Know. that Google AdWords has advanced it system over the past year that is easy to use and not so easy to blow your entire budget in one day? I remember my first AdWords campaign and blowing my wad within hours. Don't think quantity, think targeted quality. Be very keyword specific and open to same meaning phrase variations. Research them and test them out a few at a time. Management becomes easy and extremely controlled once you spend a little time getting used to what drives you sales, not necessarily traffic (unless that is your revenue model).

Did You Know. AdWords has a Power Post feature that allows you to cut and paste up to 750 keyword selections and maximum costs per click from a Word or Excel file? You man manage your list from your own keyword files, manage and track everything you bid on in an easily transferable Corporate friendly file!

Did You Know. Popups are not allowed for AdWords traffic destinations? Yup, if you have a popup your campaign will not be approved. I wonder if they auto check that, how many levels deep, or if Flash pop-ups are detected. hmm : )

Did You Know. If you want to send traffic to a sponsor or affiliate program you must say so in your AdWords ad copy? Google says you must "Insert the word "affiliate" or "distributor" in your ad text or title." Like it's not hard enough to sell porn, how many surfers feel safe with a porn "reseller". Promote traffic to your own site and redistribute from there; I'd say it's your best bet.

Did You Know. By finding out what keywords drive you sales you can better tweak your site to make even more sales from that niche. What works for your site will be unique, find your own way and remember, the most obvious keywords are not always the best. Get down and dirty specific. Always identify your campaign as "adults only" or it will not be accepted.

Did You Know. AdWords is VERY picky when it comes to adult keywords. For example "whips" would not be acceptable term for a fetish website, you'll only find horse supplies or sex toys. When in doubt, try to get away with it and learn your own way around AdWords. You never know!

There are only advantages to trying out Google AdWords. If at least, it will be a learning experience all webmasters must go through sooner or later. When we all get tired and fed up of the Search Engine Game, this will be academy compared to college coming ahead of us. It's time to start learning how to maximize with good traffic in a safe environment. Why not go for it? $25 bucks will get you on your way. Until next time, Happy Promoting!
